Pet Stains and Odors:

Are you faced with the telltale signs of pets in your home?

Urine can best be treated when it is first deposited into a carpet. If you can work with the urine when it is still wet, your chances of getting more of it out are better. It is highly recommended that all pet owners have an extraction machine such as a “shop vac” or “Bissell Green Machine”. This will allow you to saturate the area with water and extract it out of the carpet. If the area has just started to dry, saturate with a mild vinegar and water solution and extract.

We can address the problem on three levels of treatment.

In the mildest cases urine is topically cleaned and sprayed with a killing agent. In more severe cases, the carpet must be pulled back and the affected pad to be replaced. The third and most severe level of treatment includes the covering of the sub floor with a blocking agent.

Although urine is water-soluble, the pigmentation of urine is not. The discoloration will need to be treated with special agents and may require more than one treatment.

Pet stains and odors in upholstery carry with it some additional challenges and problems because of the delicate nature of upholstery material. A professional cleaner should always be consulted. Due to the inaccessibility to the urine in cushions, one of two methods is used after the basic cleaning. The first method is to inject a killing agent with a syringe into the cushion, keeping in mind the agent can only kill the bacteria that it can reach.

The second method is to spray the cushion with a killing agent, place in a plastic bag and with our powerful truck mounts and extract the air from the cushion, drawing the killing agent into the cushion.
